Dear Antioch Community,
We pledged to keep you informed about Antioch University’s dispute with the Coalition for the Common Good. Today’s hearing at the Greene County Court of Common Pleas ended about two hours ago. The Court told the parties—Antioch and the CCG—that it intends to extend the Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) for another 14 days. The Court also directed the parties to return to the mediation that CCG had canceled less than a week before it was to begin.
The court did not decide the underlying dispute today. It is our hope that we can reach a resolution through the mediation process.
Antioch’s Board of Governors remains in place, and President Varlotta continues to lead the University. Classes and programs continue as scheduled. We know this dispute has created uncertainty, and we are grateful to the faculty and staff who have kept their focus on our students throughout it.
We will provide this same update and any other information that becomes available over the next few hours during this afternoon’s community update for faculty and staff. Many of you have asked how you can show your support for Antioch. There are many ways to do so, and each person should choose whether and how to participate. For those who are interested, an Antioch alum has created a petition on Change.org. Signing the petition is entirely voluntary.
