Today, the Antioch University President, Dr. Lori Varlotta; the Antioch University Provost, Dr. Sandra Madar; and I, as the AU Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO), met with the Higher Learning Commission. The representative from the HLC confirmed that the Commission currently sees no ambiguity about who is in charge of, and the contact for, leading Antioch’s accreditation matters. Those leaders include Dr. Varlotta as president and me as ALO.
The HLC does not accept a change of control simply because a leader declares it so. Therefore, the assertion by CCG and Otterbein President John Comerford that he has been delegated the authority to serve as Antioch’s voice on Accreditation matters is not recognized by the commission itself.
